  • What’s the minimum amount I can order
For retail orders we do not have a minimum. Wholesale orders have a minimum of 500 dollars not including GST or shipping fees.
  • Where can I find Island Roots locally?
As we are a mail order service, Island Roots does not have a storefront. We suggest using WeedMaps.com to find Island Roots products near you.
  • Is it safe ordering with Island Roots?
We are one of 120+ dispensaries in Vancouver (over 300 in Canada) that are NOT operating under the federally-approved medical marijuana system. To qualify under the federal system, you’ll need to get a doctor’s approval and Health Canada’s permission to purchase from one of the 26 licensed producers. City Hall and VPD have allowed dispensaries to proliferate so people can safely access medicine, so long as there are no sales to minors or any gang affiliations. There are more than 20 mail order marijuana sites in Vancouver. Vancouver has been shipping weed in the mail since the 90’s and to date, we know of no-one who has ever been charged with receiving pot in the mail. That being said, there is still a risk on both ends as we are not working with any federal approval.
  • How will my order be packaged
Your order will be discretely packaged and vacuum-sealed to protect and maintain your privacy. We ship using Xpresspost mailers or nondescript boxes with no indication of what is inside.
  • What happens after i place an order on your site?
When an order is placed, it is automatically updated as being “On Hold” until your payment has been received and deposited to our account. Your bank should send you a notification as soon as the transfer has been accepted by our finance department. Once your eTransfer has been registered in our order system, your order proceeds to packing and shipping and will be released within 1-3 business days. Once the order has been shipped, the status will be changed to “Complete”. You will then receive a notification from us detailing your order and containing your tracking information.
  • What is the fastest way to get my product shipped?
To ensure the best possible outcomes for your product to be packed and shipped, we recommend you order first thing Monday morning and send in your eTransfer immediately after. Please ensure that you include your order number and make sure to use the password we provide you in your order confirmation email. Our office hours are Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM PST. The later in the week you send in your order, the greater possibility your order will not make the Canada Post cutoff time for orders to go out before the weekend.
  • Where are you located and what are expected shipping times?
We ship out of British Columbia using Canada Post. http://parcelsapp.com/en/carriers/canada-post
  • What if there’s a Canada Post Strike or any other kinds of service interruptions?

  • What methods of payment do you accept
Payment is made using Interac E-transfer. If you use online banking with a Canadian bank or credit union, then sending a transfer takes just a couple of minutes. Instructions will be provided with your online invoice and orders ship only after E-Transfer have been received. If you are new to Interac E-transfers, please visit http://www.interac.ca/en/interac-e-transfer-consumer.html
  • How do I send an Interac E-transfer
If you use online banking with a Canadian bank/credit union, then sending an Interac E-transfer takes just a couple of minutes. Google is a great tool and if you search “your bank name” + Interac E-transfer in Google.ca, you should easily find instructions on how to send a transfer with your financial institution. For information on sending an E-transfer, please contact your bank or http://www.interac.ca/en/interac-e-transfer-consumer.html
  • What will happen to my order if I don’t submit payment
Once you’ve placed your order, the next step in the process will be to submit an Interac E-transfer. Your order will be kept On Hold till we receive your E-transfer. If we do not receive your payment within 7 days, your order will be canceled.
  • Why is my order on hold?
When an order is placed, it’s status is seen as ‘on hold’ until your payment has been received and deposited into our account. Your bank should notify you as soon as the transfer has been accepted. Once accepted, your order will be packed within 2-3 days, and the status will be changed to ‘complete’. We will notify you once your order has been completed, and a tracking number will be provided to you in an email from Canada Post.
  • How long does it take to process and ship my order?
Orders are processed in our warehouse 2-3 days after your payment has been received and deposited into our account. Processing times are the same for each order, regardless of the shipping option chosen. Once your package has left our facility, shipping times vary depending on which shipping method you have chosen. Unfortunately, paying for faster shipping times will not influence the time it takes to process and pack your order. To speed up processing times, we recommend placing orders early Monday morning and sending your e-transfer immediately afterwords, ensuring your order number is included in the notes of your transfer. Our office hours are 9-5 Monday to Friday, so orders placed later in the week may miss the weekend cutoff for being taken to Canada Post.
  • Can I get a rush on the order processing?
Our orders are packed and shipped in priority sequence as quickly as possible, typically within 2 to 3 business days. Processing time is the same for every order. There is no way of paying extra to expedite the order processing.
  • I forgot to add my order number to my eTransfer, what do I do?"
As we are unable to accept eTransfers without knowing which order to apply it to, we recommend you simply cancel your eTransfer and resend it, ensuring you include your order number.
  • What happens if I don’t get my package?
If you do not get your package 2 days after the expected arrival date, let us know and we will file a trace with Canada Post. If a trace is filed, Canada Post will conduct an investigation (which can take 7 business days to complete). If they can locate the package, they will ship it to you and you’ll get it a few days later. If it’s deemed “unrecoverable”, we will send you a 1x replacement package, free of charge. We do not offer postage refunds if your order arrives late due to any postal issues.
  • What if I’m not home to sign for my order?
If Canada Post is unable to deliver directly to you, a notice will be left letting you know where you can pick up your parcel. Often this is at your local post office or at a Canada Post desk at a local business. If you have ordered with us before, feel free to include a note on your order requesting that we ship without requiring a signature.
  • What do I do if I have consumed too much?
Most importantly, try to remain calm. Cannabis is classified as a biphasic substance meaning it can intensify some physical responses. This can cause unintended effects if you consume too much mostly in the form of a few possible outcomes, for instance. fatigue, paranoia, rapid heartbeat, decreased blood pressure, nausea and general discomfort. CBDs have a synergistic interaction with THC and can help mitigate THC-induced anxiety. You can also try eating a snack with fresh ground black pepper on it. Black pepper balls have a terpene called beta-caryophyliene which can also help to reduce the effects of THC.
  • How much CBD should I take?
This is a very difficult question to answer, because everyone is different physically and with the amount they require. Working within a range of 2.5mg THC and 1mg of CBD orally to 200-300mg daily is a reasonable range. Some Island Roots products contain very high levels of cannabinoids and should be consumed in very small amounts initially, in order to find your dosage level.
  • My tracking number does not work. Help
We will email your tracking number before it has been scanned in at the post office. Until it has been scanned in, your tracking number will not be trackable on the Canada Post website. Please wait until the end of the day and your tracking number should appear correctly. If it does not, please email mota.help@gmail.com and we will look into it.
  • Will fats help absorption of CBDs and THCs?
Yes, because cannabinoids and fats are both hydrophobic, CBDs and THCs both dissolve well in fat. The best fats to use include clarified butter, coconut oil and olive oil.
  • What is the best way to find my dosage?
If you are unsure about how much you should be consuming, your best method is to take a very little amount and then wait to see if you experience any effects. If you do not, take the same small amount and wait for the same amount of time to see if that dosage is sufficient. Continue with this pattern of a small amount administered slowly over a long period of time until you reach a level you are comfortable with and record this amount as your dosage. Best practices involve a low dose slowly ingested over longer periods of time.
  • How do I get the CBD from edibles into my bloodstream faster?
The quickest method to absorb the CBDs would be sublingually meaning under the tongue. Holding the CBD food item under the tongue until it dissolves enables the mucus membranes to absorb the product directly into the bloodstream thereby bypassing the digestive system completely.
  • How long does CBD take to be absorbed?
Absorption rates depend on your method of consumption. If you eat a CBD product, the CBD must travel through your digestive tract. Depending on your own personal metabolism, this can be quite slow, possibly taking 2 or more hours as it must pass through the digestive system and be absorbed by the liver. Take this into consideration when determining if you should consume more of the product. Perhaps wait a few hours to see if your absorption rates are slow.
